WHO Advice For Health Workers on Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

Coronavirus (COVID-19) which started in Wuhan, China earlier this years has started to spread around the world. What we have learned about the virus to date is that it is particularly dangerous for more vulnerable members of the community, especially the elderly.

Another vulnerable population are People Who Inject Drugs (PWID). It is not hard to understand that this population also is an at-risk group as PWID have compromised immune systems from having viral and bacterial infections and being under-nourished. However, PWID never appear to be mentioned in any Public Health warnings such as this one.

The people who work with PWID also seem to be overlooked in the warnings and we would like to take this opportunity to share with you, the advice provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO) for medical front-line workers in helping avoid COVID-19 infection during this time.
