About the Test Nitazene Nitazenes are a class of synthetic drugs that have gained attention in the United States and other countries in recent years. The prevalence of nitazenes in the illegal drug supply has been on the rise since 2019. Recent evidence suggests nitazenes may be more potent than fentanyl and may require a higher dose of naloxone in case of overdose. In the same study, several individuals who overdosed on nitazenes were unaware that their drugs contained it.

Xylazine is a non-opioid tranquilizer used as a sedative, analgesic, and muscle relaxant in animals such as horses and cattle. In recent years, xylazine has emerged as an adulterant in recreational drugs such as heroin. Combining xylazine with other drugs that cause central nervous system depression compounds the sedative effects and can increase the risk of overdose and death.
